Labour Relations Officer
Introduction:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Labour Relations Officer to manage employee relations, ensure compliance with Labour legislation, and provide guidance on disciplinary, grievance, and dispute resolution processes within a dynamic security services environment.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the company at CCMA, Bargaining Councils, and Labour Court matters where applicable
- Prepare and manage all documentation, evidence, witness preparation, and case strategies related to labour disputes.
- Maintain a high success rate in the resolution and defence of labour matters.
- Ensure disciplinary processes, investigations, and hearings are conducted in accordance with labour legislation and company policies to minimize the risk of adverse CCMA awards.
- Provide expert labour relations guidance to management to mitigate legal and financial exposure.s
- Monitor and report on CCMA outcomes, trends, risks, and corrective actions.
- Advise management on labour legislation and employee relations.
- Facilitate grievance procedures and conflict resolution.
- Draft disciplinary charges, warnings, and hearing outcomes.
- Conduct workplace investigations into misconduct and poor performance.
- Assist with union engagements and collective bargaining processes.
- Prepare labour relations reports and maintain accurate employee records.
- Train managers and supervisors on labour relations best practices.
- Diploma or Degree in Labour Relations, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Law, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ labour relations experience, preferably within the security industry.
- Sound knowledge of the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), and relevant labour legislation.
- Experience representing employers at CCMA and bargaining councils.
- Strong report-writing, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel when required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
